Happy Christmas Eve!

Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas! 🎅🎄
Its Christmas Eve! yay!
I have to say it is my absolute favorite time of the year. The meaning of the season. All the activities leading up to the day is just awesome. And the time spent with Family.
How do you spend the holidays? How do you spend your Christmas Eve?
I believe everyone is entitled to spend this time however they please. Whether they don't like the season or if they absolutely love it and just go over board with everything, Its a matter of preference. As for me I spend this time with family. We usually get as much 'Christmassy' things in as possible. We decorate our tree, string lights and even go out to various events. This year I went to the Toronto Christmas Market and I have to say it is a new favorite for me. It just shouts out Christmas from the entrance. It was different from the Christmas festivities back home. The stalls were different. My favorite was the German handmade tree ornaments. Every ornament was unique and different from the usual spherical ornaments hung on most Christmas trees. It was amazing.
I was told about a drink called the Drink of the Gods and I just had to give it a try. It was like drinking a chocolate bar which I loved since I LOVE chocolate. You need to try it if you haven't already.

How do you usually prepare for Christmas?
I love shopping for presents and wrapping each one myself. It so much fun. And writing Christmas cards are nice, you could include your own special wishes customized for the person you intend to send it to. And why not? Everyone deserves to have a smile on their face.

How do you spend Christmas Eve?
I spend it usually with my Family. We would usually bake up a storm and drink hot chocolate and watch Christmas movies and curl up in fuzzy blankets. Home Alone usually shows all day so why not enjoy it? Its a tradition we have every year. We bake with mom and we all curl up and watch Christmas movies all night. What better way to spend the day than spending it with family?

Christmas Cookies and Christmas Cheesecake because why not?

Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!
Until next time...

How do you cope with your anxiety?

Hey all. Hope everyone's well.
It's been a while since I posted anything and sadly that was due to the second round of midterms. It seemed as if only yesterday I started this 'new' place but it been a few months... geez where did the time go.
I don't know how many of you get sudden anxiety attacks when it's time to write a test or a major exam but for me sometimes I do. I study weeks in advance or days in advance but when its time to actually write the exam I feel super nervous and I start to shake and my heart rate rapidly increases. So what do I do to cope with this? I do a lot actually. I listen to music right before tests sometimes or I'd do some writing. Or hey you know what I just walk outside and take some fresh air and drink some water. This helps to keep me calm. I feel less stressed.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxjzGAbe2OM
This is my go to song to calm my nerves.

Like other university students, I feel stressed too. For the past few weeks I've been feeling terribly homesick and I missed my parents and little sister a lot but I had to find a way to push through and I find that just finding ways to distract yourself helps cope with the sadness that tries to creep in. Sometimes skype isn't enough!

When things get hard and you feel like there's absolutely nothing you can do, just get up, put on some music and dance it out. It helps, trust me.

If I'm stuck when doing homework or an assignment or something I just get up and dance it out.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUgxZ8_Iiqc

It doesn't have to be a special occasion to make yourself feel good. Just do what makes you happy and calm.

So how do you cope with your stress? I'd love to hear from you, so don't be afraid to drop a comment.

Until next time...

Don't let the Mid Terms get you down!

So it's that time of the semester where the Profs. get to be as evil as they want and Halloween is still about two weeks away. It's mid term season.
They've kept me busy so I know a post is overdue. Hope all my readers out there are doing great. And for those of you with midterms out there, don't let them get to you. Just remember you are awesome and you got this!
There will be no test that will defeat you. You will show that mid term who is the boss. That's right it's you and don't you forget it.

For me, since starting a new university, it's the first time I get to see what the mid terms are like here. Some of the Profs scare you even before the first one but it turns out its not that bad. As long as you study and stay focused its not bad at all.
But my advise to you guys, don't fall behind on your studying start from day one. It's important and don't leave any assignments to back up because it could lead to many sleepless nights if you're not careful and then you'll walk into the exam like a zombie.

But if you ever need a break from all that studying just put on some music and have yourself a little dance party. Just shake away that stress and nervousness. Remember YOU GOT THIS!

If the exams get you down, take a walk outside and look at all the colours of the leaves as they change for fall and feel as relaxed as you want. Its important to get into a good mental state so you could remain at your healthy self that you started with.

Just remember this:
Life isn't about the destination, its about the journey that gets you there...

Breaking the shell

Hey everyone!
How's the year going for you? What new thing did you accomplish?
Well if you haven't done much for the year you've still got roughly 2 and a half months left to make yourself shine and be the awesome you that you can be.
Don't let anybody drag you down, break out of your shell and reach for the dreams you never thought you could ever reach.
It's that time of the year where the trees are changing colours but remember while they are changing colours they are not changing the being that they are. With every change that happens something even more wonderful is brought to light. Some days you may look at everything that happens in your life and wonder why it happens and then a few days later you see the reason for it happening.

Personally, I've found that when you release yourself from all the negativity that surrounds you and start paying attention to you, you start to see the bigger picture, the things that matter more to you and isn't that what counts?
I love helping people and I will in any way that I can even if that means I have to come out of my comfort zone. Making adjustments was a tad rough but hey you know what, when you realize that you can do it, anything is possible.
To keep myself occupied I've joined a program at school where I get to be a class representative and help my fellow classmates connect with the professor. I never thought that I would be that person to get up in front of a large room and make announcements. I've never liked public speaking but how will you ever get good at something if you never practice? My sister told me it's a good thing that I get to come out of my shell and stop being that behind the scenes kind of person. So if she can believe in me, why shouldn't I believe in me?

You never know if you're good at something unless you try, try, try!
Remember the only thing confining you are those walls that you built yourself.
Don't be shy, just spread your wings and fly.

Cheers to New Beginnings!

Hey to all my readers.... I know its been a while but I'm back.
Things have truly been hectic trying to get settled down into a new place. Moving away from home for the first time has been terrifying because things are so different and you just have to start from the beginning which of course is the best place to start from.
It's a strange experience because at the end of the day the usual faces you look forward to seeing when you get home aren't there and you realize that you're on your own and you're the one that has to get everything and do everything.
The people are different and the cultures are different, the environment is different but hey you know what you'll be fine. Just get everyday and go about life as normally as you can and believe me things do work out. Everything that happens, happens for the best and I believe this because I've experienced it and once you do, it'll be the most magical thing you've ever experienced(so to speak).

And it's fall you know the season of the pretty colors. The season where all the leaves change colors and drop off to usher in winter. Even though the leaves die every year, they never give up they just come back even more beautiful than ever before, than each year before, they come beautiful and they leave beautifully. So whatever you get involved in, whatever dreams or hopes keep jumping at you, never give up on it. Never let somebody tell you no that your dream is unrealistic because loves no dream is out of reach and most certainly no dream is unrealistic.

So I've started a new University and I don't really know the people here but as time goes by I'm making adjustments and I'm getting to know the place. Face are becoming familiar slowly but surly.
So maybe new beginnings aren't a bad thing, even when you have no idea what you're getting your self into. Just come out your shell and persevere. It pays off.

Remember folks the WHEEL OF LIFE never stops turning.

Keep your head high!

Sometimes things don't always happen the way you want them to but no matter what you do just keep your head held high and go forward. I believe that everything that happens, happens for a reason. It might not always be clear but when it is you'll know the choice you made is the right one. So never dim your light even if the darkness keeps creeping up on you. Keep your head on and keep it held high.
You can be a better you than you could ever imagine. And when you let the light shine it will be well worth the sacrifice.

Keep shining and moving forward!

Late nights, Early mornings

Why does the day have to stop after 12? Yes it brings in a new day but that doesn't mean the night has to be an early one. At 2 or 3 in the morning that's when the juices start flowing and you feel like you have the world of things to do.

It seems as though when you go to bed there's an unbelievable number of thoughts running through your mind. All you have to do is turn that once anticipated early night into a late night and just let the juices flow and turn thoughts and dreams into reality. Leave no stone unturned and no grain of sand not counted. Just make it happen at all cost. Enjoy what the night has to offer.

Live a little...

In life everything isn't always black and white. Its always good to throw a little colour into your life.
There's a saying: life is about change, sometimes its painful, sometimes its beautiful but most times its both.
Every now and then its good to get up, get out and explore a bit.

Ever so often we spend time making a living that we forget to actually live. Don't waste anytime behind material things. Make memories and live. Live through the good and the bad.
Don't forget the people that matter the most. Everybody needs to have support. Don't depend on anyone but don't neglect the ones that matter.
Get up and live life.
Explore everything life has to offer.

Life goes on!

Everyday, every hour, every minute, every second, something new is happening in the world. New diseases arise, new cures come to light, a new person is brought into the world. With all these things happening life still goes on.

There's a quote that I like. It was from the series Grey's Anatomy.

It's like one day you were once a child and the next day you're all grown up and moving out. Sometimes its unexpected or sometimes it happens so fast and even though you expected it, it takes time to sink in. So whatever you life goes on.
Time waits for no man. --  Geoffrey Chaucer

Just wake up and live each day to the fullest. Do all the things you want to do and even more but don't let it take you away from the important things in life.
As you get older things will get difficult before it gets easy. There's always a storm before the calm.

Family is everything!

I know I've been absent for a few days but I'm back and couldn't be happier.

Family is such an important part of life. They are the people who have no choice but to live with you and they have to love and tolerate you. 😂

Some families come in different sizes and types. Some house have both parents and the children. Some have just one parent and the child or children and the others have parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts and the children... you get the idea. But I feel that most families get on just fine.
I've been blessed to have both my parents and 2 of the best sisters. We don't always agree with each other but we work out those things. We make happy memories... it's always important to make memories.
Family is everything!

Then there are those friends that turn into family and they are great... it's always good to appreciate them.
Stand up for them and support them...
Family always has your back regardless...
I love my family and i love my friends that turned into family...

Busy Bees

I'm back, after a few days, I'm back.
Did you ever think to your self 'when did I become this busy?'

It's like somebody just decided to push the fast forward button and we have to try to keep up. We'll need to keep up with every change that happens. It's like in chemistry, when there's a change to periodic table and scientist all around the world fight to discover, to learn every tiny detail they can about this new element.
Do you remember those days when you were about 5 years old and you would run around telling your family that you'll be married in your 20's or you'll be finished with studying and become the best new thing in business? Take a look now. You're either in your 20's, approaching or moving on from it. Those days of running around playing pretend are over and it seems like it was just yesterday. It's that time for you to look reality in the eye and show it that this is your time and that you will keep up and you will survive despite whatever is thrown your way.
You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream... --- C.S. Lewis

Hello August!

Hello again friends.
We're in the 8th month already. It was just as if the year had just begun. Boy does time fly.
More than half of the year is passing, what did you do for it?
Did you accomplish goal or dreams you had planned out?
Are you ready for the 2nd half of the year?
Really sit and let this sink in. Analyse your accomplishments, your rights and wrongs.
It has been a rough first half. But hey for the most part surviving was key.
I finished Second year at University and it was one heck of a long year.
I started a blog. This was something I wanted to do for years but never felt confident enough. But if you're not ready now when will you be? Start somewhere and go from there. Not everything in life has to be planned out.
Just get up, get dressed and do your best. Enjoy what the rest of the year has to offer and don't let time get away from you.
Carpe Diem!

A Violinist Inspiration

Sometimes I take a while to get use to things around me but when it came to playing music I wasn't hesitant.
I play two instruments, the violin and the piano. Both are great instruments but I fancy the violin to the piano. The music from the violin just speaks to me.
When I listen to music, I listen for the good. I let the music transform me. I let it take me to different places.
As a violinist, I let the music move me.Lindsey Stirling has inspired me to take my music to a new level.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-wEAeNcA_A --- This one is one of my absolute favorite.
When I hear this one I think about China. I think about Asia in general. I think about Samurais battling to protect what they hold so dear to them. She gives her audience something to aww at.

Beside Lindsey, there are other great violinist, musicians out there. One of my favorite groups is probably eScala. They are an electic instrument group.
These ladies bring music to life.

Music isn't mindless. It isn't boring. It speaks to everyone, you just have to listen. It helps you get through rough and tough times. Just let it help you.
What does it say to you? \

Listen to the music

When you hear music, what do you think about?
What does the music say to you?
Whether its classical, rock, jazz, metal even blues, the music speaks to you. If you listen closely the music is trying to talk to you. Its inspirational. It is desirable. Music can get you through almost everything. Just listen to it. Its alive.
Through the years music has been evolving. It takes you to places. Unlocks parts of your mind you never thought possible.
I use music to inspire me. Every note of it. Every sharp, every flat. I use the music to calm me.
Relax and let the music drift you away.
Music is everywhere, you just have to open your ears and listen. Let it set you free.

Why do I blog?

Ever had things you wanted to say or talk about but just didn't know how to say it? Sometimes it feels like that for me. I love writing and what better way to start. Blogging is always something I was into. Whether it was a food blog, Art blogs even nature blogs. I feel that blogging is a way for people to express themselves, you know? Show the world what you're into and the best part you have a voice. You can say whatever you want whenever you want. Blogging is friendly. It is a journey.
I believe that blogging is a way of sharing ideas. Ideas which could have an impact on others. Blogging, Its not just about you. Sometimes what you're going through helps others get through what they go through.
So why not get your ideas out. Who knows you might get some valuable input.
I blog to inspire others. I blog to get my thoughts out especially when its eating away at me.
This is my way of writing to the world.
Do what makes you happy.

Day in the life of a Chemistry Major

It's been a while since the last post but I'm back.
Things have been somewhat hectic. Between trying to put things together and doing experiments in the lab and my god not forgetting the endless lab reports. As soon as one is completed the other just pops up. Talk about a bumpy road to success.
It's the coming slowly to the end of second year and the completion of an Associate Degree. Everyone is just trying to make it out the best they can.
As a chemistry student we hardly have the time to scratch our head. You always have to keep the ball rolling. If you're not stuck in the lab, you're in class, if not there you're in the library studying, reading for your degree. When it comes to lunch, you do it on the way to class because sometimes you have just 5 minutes to get from one to the next... things get crazy especially if the next class has a scheduled exam.

Chemistry is fun. You learn all these cool things. Do all these amazing experiments. You learn about how various thing in life function like how the refrigerator keeps you food for a period of time and did I mention if you do thermodynamics, you get the first hand experience to make ice cream. Cool right?

As hectic as it is you never really get bored. Once you stay focused all the exciting things come your way. Chemistry is explosive.
You never let it get to your personal life. Yeah sure you bring home lab reports to do but hey get it done as quickly and accurately as you possibly can and you'll get to do anything you want.
At the end of your degree, pick your project and you can be the next Marie Curie. Get into the fun but don't let it take the fun out of you. You have potential and you will go far. Just believe in yourself and believe in the chemistry.

Be the best you can be.

Be whatever you want to be....

Hey friends, pull up a chair to the computer and join in...
There's a common question everyone is asked when growing up whether it be by your mom or your dad, a sister or brother, aunts or uncles even grandparents... What do you want to be when you grow up? Yes that question you thought was so open. You say doctor or lawyer, teacher, business man, actor/actress, you even go as far as saying pop star because you were young then, you had no idea of the amount of hard work you would have to constantly put in to reach this goal, so it was just easier at the time to dress up and play pretend. The world was so easy back then, but then you grew up and started 'adult-ing'. Just when you thought it was fun to grow up, then taxes hit and you need to find a job and settle down. Not so fun now huh?

Don't be in a rush to grow up... enjoy every second of life because it is not promised to anybody. It is fragile and we are not guaranteed a tomorrow so give it all you can. Put your best foot forward, even if somebody stomps on it, shake it off and continue down your path.
Be whatever you want to be. Be a better you.

“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is You-er than You.” -Dr. Seuss

Who are you?

Who are you? You are who you decide you are.
Hello friends, who are you? This is a question asked by an employer sometimes. Mostly for a new graduand and you just sit there thinking you have the answer but really nothing comes out when you speak. You've spent so much time becoming so good at your field that you forget the important thing is not to only succeed in that field but to become a better you that you can be.We forget ever so often that while on the path of gaining knowledge, we still need to gain a sense of who we are. So I'll ask again, Who are you? Seems like a simple question huh? Guess not. Most times we become whatever someone else wants us to be that we become blinded by it but I say no more, its time to open your wings, spread it don't let anybody carve the path which you're meant to take. You design the path which you want to travel not that which someone has set in stone for you. A battle of the mind in most cases but darling be who you want to be. You've got time to figure it out and if you think you don't have the time, MAKE IT. You are what matters. The minute you decide to be yourself, that's when true beauty is revealed.
You are beautiful, spectacular, respectful, wise and most importantly you are you. And you know what you are pretty awesome.
As for me I'll answer the question, Who am I?
I am Miranda Ishwardai Ramnaraine, future chemist, aspiring pediatric surgeon and writer. But let's forget academic wise. I am a swimmer, a pianist, a violinist, a dancer and more importantly I am who I decided to be. I am here to be a better me. I am me.
So come on everybody, get up, make some time and just be you. That is what matters. YOU DO. YOU MATTER.

So let me hear what makes you you. Drop a comment and let the self discovery begin. Don't be shy.

Disembarking flight BWnegativity

Ever wonder why some people hang around you? Why they become your friends? Sometimes all these thoughts poison your mind. It hurts your soul but you can't let it get to you. Negativity comes in many forms whether its a bad relationship or a friendship that's based on one friends need of you. Once their need runs out, you no longer matter. Maybe the friendship wasn't your fault, you didn't see it coming. Sometimes we don't ever see it coming it just happens and you think oh this is my best friend, this is the person who will be there for you on the good days and bad days. But that one day when things spiral out of control and you need someone in your corner, boom there's nobody there. It's like people expect you to be okay, to alright all the time, like your feelings don't count. Its okay for them to ask you for help whenever they need because you've been grown to help those in need so its not in your character to say no but it is not okay for you to be tossed aside like a used up rag doll that no longer makes anybody happy because you do make people happy in your own little way. Whether you smile when you walk into a room, or you laugh at a joke someone's telling but to the crowd its not that funny, you do matter, every little thing you do matters. So my advice to you is dump the negativity before it leaves you questioning every move you ever made. Don't let anybody control your feelings because love you deserve every stress free moment life has to offer. Dust off your wings and keep soaring because with all negativity there has to be some positivity and it comes in relationships that last a lifetime and beyond or a friendship that doesn't let you walk to Mordor alone even if you insist. There will always be better people out there, ones that won't run back to you just because their 'option' was leaving. There will be some people that make you laugh louder, smile wider and live a little bit better. So my darlings go right ahead and disembark flight BWnegativity.
